Our intrepid John A. Hartford Foundation staff are starring in their own version of North By Northwest this week, conducting site visits to clinics in Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WWAMI, for short) in the final stage of the process to award grants to improve care for depression.
Funding for the grants comes from the Corporation for National and Community Service’s (CNCS) Social Innovation Fund (SIF) program, with additional funding from the Hartford Foundation. The grants will enable the clinics selected to increase access to depression care for low-income people in medically underserved areas by expanding implementation of Project IMPACT (Improving Mood – Promoting Access to Collaborative Care), a highly successful evidence-based, depression care model created by Jürgen Unützer, MD, director of the University of Washington’s Advancing Integrated Mental Health Solutions (AIMS) Center.
Joining the North By Northwest SIF Tour 2013 are: Chris Langston, Hartford Foundation program director, and Dr. Unützer (Wyoming and Alaska); Wally Patawaran, Hartford Foundation program officer, and Rita Haverkamp, a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist who serves as a consultant with the IMPACT Implementation Center (Washington); and Patawaran and Diane Powers, AIMS Center Manager (Montana and Idaho).
The Health AGEnda blog has obtained exclusive, behind-the-scenes photos of the Hartford team’s exploits on the SIF Tour. There’s just no escaping the paparazzi these days.
