President Terry Fulmer, PhD, RN, FAAN, recently published an article in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society on "Geriatric Nursing 2.0," a piece that details the "growth and development of gerontological nursing" that Dr. Fulmer has witnessed first hand as part of a second generation of gerontological nursing pioneers.

Building on the textbook Geriatrics Nursing: Growth of a Specialty where she was idnetified as part of a second cohort of gerontological nursing pioneers, Dr. Fulmer expands on her professional experiences in the field and the transformational changes that she has personally witnessed in the field as well as the John A. Hartford Foundation's part in tranforming the field with our funding.

"Our success and progress in geriatric nursing is directly related to those who provided crucial financial support to our enterprise," Dr Fulmer writes. "The JAHF, under the exceptional leadership of Norman Volk, Chairman of the Board, and Corinne Rieder, Executive Director and Treasurer, was an early leader in the transformation of geriatric medicine through funding geriatric medicine centers of excellence and fellowships in major academic medical centers."
