With support from the John A. Hartford Foundation, Justice in Aging recently published an issue brief that analyzes how well states are implementing a 2014 rule that creates the right to person-centered care planning for Medicaid consumers of long-term services and supports.

"Person-centered planning (PCP) is now almost universally understood as a necessary component of an effective delivery system for long-term services and supports (LTSS). Done well, person-centered planning can ensure greater independence and a better quality of life for seniors and people with disabilities receiving LTSS. But there is still a lack of clarity about what exactly person-centered planning is and how to make sure it is delivered," according to the issue brief written by Gwen Orlowski and Julie Carter.

An accompanying webinar that took place on in April 2015 on this issue is also available here.
