National Committee for Quality Assurance unveils two new accreditation programs
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), a JAHF grantee, has two programs to accredit organizations that coordinate long-term services and support (LTSS) and measure whether LTSS organizations are meeting certain standards in areas such as conducting comprehensive assessments, managing care transitions, performing person-centered assessments and planning and managing critical incidents.

The population is aging and more states are requiring integrated, person-centered, managed LTSS. It is becoming increasingly important for organizations to demonstrate their ability to effectively coordinate services between caregivers, individuals, LTSS providers and clinicians. NCQA Accreditation of Case Management for LTSS can support your organization in achieving these goals.
NCQA’s Accreditation of Case Management for Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) accredits organizations that coordinate LTSS and meet certain standards in areas such as conducting comprehensive assessments, managing care transitions, performing person-centered assessments and planning and managing critical incidents. Examples of eligible organizations include: area agencies on aging, aging and disability resource centers, centers for independent living, LTSS-only health plans that don’t provide medical/behavioral health benefits and other organizations that coordinate LTSS.

NCQA’s Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Distinction program measures whether organizations that coordinate LTSS meet certain standards in areas such as conducting comprehensive assessments, managing care transitions, performing person-centered assessments and planning and managing critical incidents. Eligible organizations: NCQA-Accredited MCOs that offer comprehensive medical benefits and manage LTSS and NCQA-Accredited MBHOs that coordinate LTSS.

Additionally, the Early Adopter Program applies to both the Accreditation and Distinction programs.
The Early Adopter program was established to support organizations who seek to distinguish themselves by being among the first to be evaluated under a new NCQA product.
