The March issue of the American Society on Aging's journal, Generations, focuses on eldercare workforce issues and features articles by JAHF President Terry Fulmer, Program Director Rani Snyder, and many grantees, including the Eldercare Workforce Alliance.

Several articles are open access, including one co-authored by Rani Snyder and American Geriatrics Society CEO Nancy Lundebjerg that describes public and private investments in the eldercare workforce and calls for increased investments to meet the needs of a growing aging society. The authors note, "The time for incremental additional investments is long past. The population demographics demand nothing less than seismic change." (Read the article here)

Another freely available article describes the JAHF-supported Eldercare Workforce Alliance and subscribers can view Terry Fulmer's piece, "Effective Interdisciplinary Teams: Do We Really Know How to Build Them?"

The issue, found here, was co-edited by Steve Dawson, former president of JAHF grantee PHI and Chris Langston, JAHF's past program director who write:

"...we call within this publication for new finance and delivery system designs to start with the eldercare workforce, rather than to presume it. We call for those designing new systems of eldercare to always ask, 'Who will provide this service? How many will be needed? What new roles must they assume? What new skills must they require? How will they be trained? Supported? Compensated?' We call for systems that are designed from the very beginning around the core, central relationship between the elder and the caregiver."
