Touched By a Hartford Grant? You Are a Change AGEnt!

The Change AGEnts Initiative—a multi-year project designed to engage John A. Hartford Foundation grantees and scholars from all programs and times in improving the health of older adults, their families, and communitieswas recently funded by the Foundation. We believe that by bringing our outstanding people together across disciplines, geography, and time and adding the catalysts of convening, connecting, and training we can help you do more than you may have ever thought possible.

This exciting initiative will be launched at the Gerontological Society of America (GSA) annual meeting on Friday, Nov. 22, 6:30-8 p.m. If you're a grantee, fellow, scholar, mentor, or any way connected to a Hartford program, we hope you'll join us for this fun, interdisciplinary event. Please RSVP by Friday, Oct. 25. And stay tuned for announcements of our new online community, small grants programs, and online training. You are a Change AGEnt!

We also spotlighted two Hartford academic superstars who embody our new strategies by putting their geriatrics expertise to work in the real world: Sarah Szanton and Lisa Ferretti.

These are just a few of the compelling posts featured twice a week on Health AGEnda. Don't want to miss a post? Subscribe through RSS or e-mail. You can also follow the Hartford Foundation and the blog via Facebook.

Communications Webinar: Making News—A Guide to Connecting with Reporters and Bloggers and Getting Your Story Out

A Build Your Bandwidth Webinar from the John A. Hartford Foundation

Tuesday, November 26, 2013
1:00-2:15 p.m. EST

Imagine: Your research is about to be published.  Perhaps it will help clinicians improve their care or inform policymakers or even help older adults enhance their health. Or maybe you are planning a national conference or community event and want to build awareness either about it or the particular issues it will highlight.

In any of these cases, you clearly need to get the word out beyond traditional academic journals. This webinar will help you tell your story through new and traditional media, providing tips on:

• Building a good story
• Identifying the most promising media outlets for the people you are trying to reach
• Taking advantage of your institution’s resources
• Connecting with and pitching reporters and bloggers who matter most for your news
• Staying on message once you get the media’s attention

Please join us on November 26th.  We look forward to working with you to get your story out!
