Evaluating the Hartford Geriatric Nursing Initiative

Grant Summary

The John A. Hartford Foundation has awarded a grant to support the external evaluation of its Hartford Geriatric Nursing Initiative projects. The evaluation will be conducted by a team housed at the School of Public Affairs of Baruch College, New York, with vast experience conducting multi-project evaluations and effectively communicating research findings to a variety of audiences. The evaluation will consist of a Web-based system for routinely collecting data on key metrics for specific projects, the identification and collection of longitudinal data to assess the state of geriatric nursing nationally to determine the overall impact of the Hartford Geriatric Nursing Initiative, and the development of a series of reports to highlight achievements and the need for ongoing work to prepare nurses to be competent in caring for older adults.
