In case you missed prior announcements, here are the details about the Hartford Change AGEnts Policy Institute and the Hartford Interdisciplinary Communications Conference, both taking place this summer.

Anyone who has ever been connected in any way to a Hartford-funded project (as a scholar, grantee, mentor, advisor, etc.) can be a Change AGEnt and is eligible to apply. And please help us spread the word by sharing these opportunities with anyone connected to Hartford who you think could benefit from them.

Hartford Change AGEnts Policy Institute
June 22-24, Washington, DC
Application due: April 25, 2014

Do you know of a policy that if changed, could change the lives of older adults, their families and the community?

The Hartford Change AGEnts Initiative Policy Institute will provide an opportunity for Hartford Change AGEnts to gain new knowledge and acquire skills necessary to mobilize for action on policy issues that bring about improvements in health care and quality of life for older adults. Institute topics will range from federal policy and regulatory change to state and local policy work.

The Institute, to be held June 22-24, 2014 in Washington D.C., will help AGEnts gain a stronger understanding of the complex policy-making environment and the role that they can play in driving policy outcomes. Note: There is no cost to attend this conference. Travel scholarships will be awarded, please see application for details!

Hartford Interdisciplinary Communications Conference
July 21-23, Chicago
Application due: April 30, 2014

The annual John A. Hartford Foundation Interdisciplinary Communications Conference provides participants with a foundation in a variety of communications topics that help them build their capacity to lead practice change and other efforts.

This gathering of 40 individuals, representing nursing, medicine, and social work in a variety of academic and practice environments, is an intensive and dynamic experience. Experts with a wealth of relevant experience facilitate workshops on message development, creating persuasive elevator speeches, working with traditional and social media, and the communications dimensions of leading practice change efforts in health care.

In addition, there is a session called a consultancy, which gives participants the opportunity to get specific, focused feedback on their most pressing communications issue.

For 2014, we are pleased to offer this opportunity to up to 15 Hartford Change AGEnts who have not participated in this conference previously. Note: All travel expenses, room at Thompson Chicago, and meals are covered by the conference.
