The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services and its Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation has just announced its new Innovation Advisors fellowship program. This fast track program (applications due November 15, 2011) will offer:

  • An opportunity to become an integral part of CMMI’s efforts to transform health care nationwide
  • National and regional networking opportunities with other leading health care innovators
  • Skill building workshops and webinars
  • A $20,000 stipend

Given the tremendous opportunity afforded by this program and the need to improve care for older Americans, we feel it is urgent that people committed to aging apply and earn a fair share of the 50 planned fellowship positions.

Is Innovations Advisors for You?

The Innovation Advisors Program seeks individuals working in health care, public health, and education who aim to:

  • Support the Innovation Center in testing new models of care delivery;
  • Utilize their knowledge and skills in their home organizations or areas in pursuit of the three-part aim of improving health, improving care, and lowering costs through continuous improvement;
  • Work with other local organizations or groups in driving delivery system reform;
  • Harvest new ideas or innovations for possible testing of diffusion by the Innovation Center; and
  • Build durable skills in system improvement throughout their area or region.

Sign up for an Informational Webinar

If you are interested please join Dr. Eric Coleman, members of the Practice Change Fellows Program, and the John A. Hartford Foundation on one of three informational webinars designed to encourage you to prepare your application in time for the November 15, 2011 deadline. Our agenda will include:

1. A review of the CMMI Innovation Advisors Program, its requirements and the benefits to you and your organization.

2. A focus on the value of leadership programs that foster change agents in aging by reflecting on the experiences of the Practice Change Fellows program. Recent alumni will join to share their experiences and how their projects have produced meaningful improvement in the lives of older adults.

3. A discussion of a possible public-private partnership between CMS and private foundations that may include the John A. Hartford Foundation and others, if a critical mass of professionals dedicated to improving care for older adults apply and are accepted.

4. Time for questions and answers.

The dates, times, and dial up information for the three informational webinars are provided below. We hope you can join us!
